Fill My House
From Luke 14:23 …Compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
Compelling them to come in so that My House may be filled is a command of God: There is a time for every event under heaven and this is the time to be courageous and act and compel them to come in that my house may be filled. We must love others to the extent that we do what we have been told to do by the Lord. We must win souls and disciple believers and fill up this church.
Parable of the Dinner Luke 14:16-24 16 But He said to him, “A certain man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many; 17 and at the dinner hour he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come; for everything is ready now.’ 18 “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of land and I need to go out and look at it; please consider me excused.’ 19 “And another one said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please consider me excused.’ 20 “And another one said, ‘I have married a wife, and for that reason I cannot come.’ 21 “And the slave came back and reported this to his master. Then the head of the household became angry and said to his slave, ‘Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’ 22 “And the slave said, ‘Master, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’ 23 “And the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 ‘For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste of my dinner.’”
You are here in this church at this time to be a soul-winner. I think the biggest reason why people don’t share is fear and just not knowing what to say. That’s one big reason why I am here: To get you over your fears and to get you motivated; to get you the tools you need to be confident and prepared to speak, so that when the occasion arises (and it will and soon) that you will be ready to boldly speak and do the Lord’s will, in regards to dicipling and filling up this church.
Part of our new identity must be winning souls and filling up this church. If we don’t make this part of our identity and do this as we should, this church could die. If you do your part, then well done good and faithful servant. There is a time for every event under heaven and this is the time to be courageous and act. This is the time to compel them that my house may be filled.
I believe if you pray ahead of time for God to lead you to the people He wants to be new members of our church that He will do exactly that and that you will find that your part is not that hard. You will also find that your heart and abilities will be changed to the point where speaking to people more in this way is just a part of who you are.
We need to walk by the Spirit and do what the Holy Spirit says in relation to each individual we speak to. Every member needs to be individually trained so they will be empowered to fulfill this calling that we all have.
In your daily walk:
Recognize the Lord directing you to people in your daily life. Boldly walk up to them and speak. Use greetings and diagnostic questions you are comfortable with to get a conversation started and to determine, as best you can, if the person is already saved or not. Be prepared with scripture either in your mind and/or on paper to guide you through your conversation with the person God has put you with. Speak and do as the Lord says in relation to that person. Share the Gospel, share scripture, witness. Tell them of Jesus and Invite them to our church. Get their phone number, if you can for a follow up call and their address too, if you can. Pray with them and/or for them, before you leave.
Your initial greeting could go something like this: “Hi, how are you doing?” And they say, “I’m fine.” You say, “I’m ____________ a member of ______________________. Do you have a church home? “No,” Well let me ask you a question” (use a diagnostic question that you feel comfortable with: so you will use it. An example could be EE’s question. If you were to die today… or anything that determines if they are trusting in anything other than Jesus. Then you continue to proceed as the Holy Spirit leads you and witness to that person and invite them to church. If they are new members: un-churched or churched somewhere else but they may not currently be at the place where the Lord God chooses to establish His name in their lives. Maybe the Lord wants them here. There is no way to now unless you speak and there is no way to do this other than to obey the Spirit and speak when He says. If you don’t speak you are not being obedient to the Lord. It’s that simple.
That being said, I don’t think you should just invite people to church, and here is why. If you get motivated and invite twenty people to church and just one comes. Then nineteen people did not get to hear the Gospel. That’s nineteen people you were speaking to that you could have easily shared the Gospel with. You don’t want that on your conscience. So, what needs to be done is for you to walk by the Spirit and let the conversation flow as the Holy Spirit directs you. This is going to take time to get better at this. God knows that and He is not expecting you to go out like you have the Bible memorized and are a Preacher of fifty years. Use what God already has in you. That’s what God wants to use and He wants to train you Himself. You are already someone special who can share and who has something to share. Don’t sell yourself short and not believe that. God wants to use you like you are. Let Him use you.
When you are sharing with someone use scripture to speak to them. The Word is the authority and they need to know that what you are telling them is scriptural. Since this is going to be done for the most part in your every day walk, it would be a good idea to keep some pages with scripture on them with you to give to people that may or may not come to our church.
It’s my goal that we succeed and the Lord will make this a success, if you do your part. You see all this hinges on your obedience to Jesus Christ.
How can you get this started at your church? Maybe something like this: Can you stand up and tell me your name. (He does). As I said my name is ________________ and it’s nice to meet you. Tell me sir, do you know any un-churched young people? He says, “not really.” On a normal day how many young people do you end up close enough to speak to. He says, maybe three or four. So you have the potential of speaking to three people a day (and we can pray that God make many of the ones to which you speak to be the un-churched). So if we, as a group of believers, get you prepared so that you feel comfortable to speak to these people, will you agree to speak to just three people a week?” (which is a third of who you say you could easily speak to already). He says, “if you get me to feel comfortable doing this; if you train me, I’ll do it. I say, “Now that’s what I want from everyone.” Then I say, Will you Miss agree to speak to… say, three people a week if we get you prepared so that you feel comfortable to speak? She says, “yes” and so does everyone else down the line.
There is a time for every event under heaven… and now is the time for this church to compel them to come in that my house may be filled.
If you’re not saved, Come to Jesus! |

Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
